Blog for 6/10/2021

Hi, This is Sam Hauser. Here are my thoughts for this week on the 2021 baseball season.

First of all, here are the standings for this week:

American League- East: There is no change from last week. Tampa Bay is still 2 games ahead of the Red Sox this week. There is a two-way tie for third place between New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays.

American League — Central: Chicago White Sox are still in the lead, but only ½ games ahead of Cleveland.

American League — West: Astros are still a game behind the Oakland A’s. The Mariners are trailing in third place by 6 games.

National League- East: NY Mets are still in first place by 4 games. The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves are back in a tie for second again.

National League- Central: The Chicago Cubs are still in first place by only one game over the Milwaukee Brewers, so this is a tight race right now. Latest update: The Brewers are now tied for first with the Cubs

National League — West: The San Francisco Giants are still in first with the Dodgers two games behind them. The San Diego Padres are in third place.

Here are my thoughts: There are some teams that look like they are completely out of the race for the playoffs unless there is a miracle. For instance, unless there is a miracle, the Arizona Diamondbacks are down by 19 games and unlikely to dig themselves out of this hole. The same goes for the Baltimore Orioles at 16 games behind first. The following teams are in the double digits behind the team in first place in their respective divisions: Colorado Rockies, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, and Minnesota Twins. Good luck to all of these teams, and I will be the first to say they made a miracle if they come back from this deficit. Especially the Diamondbacks!!!

That’s all for this week.
