THAT’S HOW GOOD THEY ARE
Blog for 6/17/2021
Hi, This is Sam Hauser. Here are my thoughts for this week on the 2021 baseball season. But first, I want to talk about the today’s standings:
American League — East: The last time I blogged, Boston was 3 games behind Tampa Bay, but now they’re just one game behind the Rays, so they are really closing in on the first place position.
American League — Central: The Chicago White Sox are 4½ games ahead of the Cleveland Indians, which is where they were on my last blog.
American League — West: Last time I blogged, the Mariners were in fourth, but are now tied for third. Houston has a shot at the post-season by being 2.5 games out of first. Oakland A’s have been first for quite some time and remain in that position.
National League- East: NY Mets have a pretty safe lead over the second place team, the Phillies, by 5 games.
National League- Central: This division gets really exciting because there is a four-team race for 1st place position. Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs are tied for first. Reds are only 2 games out of first and St. Louis are 3 games behind first.
National League — West: The Giants are still in first with the Dodgers right behind them by 2 games. The Padres are six games out of first, so the Dodgers are the only team that has a shot at gaining the lead over the Giants.
I really don’t have any thoughts about the season this week. I probably won’t have too much to say until after the All-Star break. After that, the teams that will be in the post-season start to gel.
I really feel the Mets will be in the post-season with their safe lead of 5 games, especially with the Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard pitching for the Mets. In the 2014 season, Noah was the only pitcher that won a game against the Royals in the 2014 playoffs. I know how really good these pitchers are because I watched them pitch in the 2015 post-season. With those two on their team, I don’t think the Mets are going anywhere.
That’s all for this week.
